Minor League Recap (8/24-8/26)

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (71-57) had a very poor start to the week, losing all three games.

(8/24) The Buffalo Bisons took game three of the series by a score of 7-2. Anthony Claggett dropped to below .500 (6-7) after going 5 inn. allowing 7 hits and 2 earned. Zach Kroenke had another poor outing in relief, giving up 4 hits and 2 earned in 2 inn. Yurendell de Caster had a 2-run single (18) in the loss.

(8/25) The Bisons split the series with the Yankees after shutting them down; 4-0. Ivan Nova pitched a strong 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and just 1 earned. Mark Melancon got rocked in his two innings in relief, allowing 5 hits and 3 earned.

(8/26) SWB lost the opener to the Syracuse Chiefs 4-3. Kei Igawa fell to 9-8 after he went just 4.2 inn. and gave up 8 hits and 2 earned (4 runs). Mike Dunn and Edwar Ramirez pitched well in relief, combining for 5 strikeouts over 4.1. Yurendell de Caster hit home run number 4 (20) and Colin Curtis hit number 6 (24).

Transactions: C Brian Peterson was placed on the 7-day DL.

Performer of the Week: Really no player well deserving. Edwar Ramirez (3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K) or Mike Dunn (2 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 4 K).

The Yankees remain 2.5 games ahead of Syracuse in the division.
